Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Monday laid the foundation stone for the renovation and repairs of Out-patient and Pathology Lab in the Government Nizamia Tibbi Hospital at Charminar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali said that the Telangana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was committed to the revival of ancient and beneficial medical practice of Unani. He said that the Out-patient and Pathology lab would be renovated with an estimated cost of Rs.80 lakhs in a plinth area of 8,000 sft which will be completed in a year. All necessary steps will be taken for the revival and upliftment of Unani Medicine. He attributed the present status of neglect in Unani Medicine to the former governments which did not take proper measures at crucial times.
The Depuy CM said that all the issues with regard to promotion of Associate Professors, recruitment of more nursing and support staff, starting of Men’s hostel and provision of food to hostel inmates, etc., were brought to the notice of the Chief Minister and would all be addressed with utmost seriousness very soon.
Mahmood Ali also said that the State Government was taking essential steps to safeguard the roof of Mecca Masjid on more permanent basis by involving professional and experienced technical staff from Archeological Survey of India which would use same kind of material originally used while taking up renovation work after the rainy season. He said about Rs. 1.50 crore would be spent to carry out repairs of Mecca Masjid.
