Dy CM misleading the House on Wakf issue: Congress

Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir alleged that the TRS Government was not serious on protection and restoration of Wakf properties.

Addressing a press conference at Council Media Point on Thursday, Shabbir Ali said that Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali did not give a satisfactory reply on the issue of Wakf properties in the council. He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has failed to take back encroached Wakf properties during the last 21 months. The issues pertaining to Dargah Hazarat Hussain Shah Wali, Lanco Hills and other properties remained unresolved. He said that the Wakf Board was not given promised judicial powers.

Shabbir Ali pointed out that the State Government granted pattas for Wakf land belonging to Chunti Shah Mosque in Malakpet. He said the mosque was adjacent to Deputy CM’s house and he holds the Revenue Department portfolio.

He also alleged that an honest officer MJ Akbar was removed from the post of Minorities Welfare Director based on a letter written by MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. He said MJ Akbar was transferred as he tried to take action against Mutawallis who were involved in irregularities. He also demanded that the State Government submit a report on irregularities committed by Akbar Nizamuddin.

Deputy CLP leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and other MLCs were also present. (INN)
