Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy has exhorted the officials of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to expedite and complete the works of Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-III and Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-I to provide equitable water supply to GHMC and adjoining areas.
He was speaking to media persons after holding a review meeting to resolve water problems in GHMC and adjoining areas at HMWSSB Head Office in Khairatabad here on Tuesday. He also said that in order to augment water supply to these areas, the State Government was keen on taking up Palamuru lift irrigation Project particularly in the wake of Hyderabad being developed as an international city.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mehmood Ali instructed the Metro Water Board officials to complete the Krishna Phase-III and Godavari Phase-I to improve drinking water supply. He also observed the need to provide water supply to Shamshabad town. Meanwhile, Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy advised that all the Assembly segments around GHMC should be formed like a ring to provide uniform water supply to all these areas.
Excise Minister T Padma Rao said that the Government was planning well in advance before the onset of summer to bring Krishna Water Phase-III by March 2015. He also said that by completing the Krishna Phase-III by March 2015 and Godavari Phase-I by August 2015 to bring additional 90 MGD + 172 MGD respectively, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s objective of providing drinking water to every house hold with tap water would be achieved.
HMWSSB Managing Director M Jagadeeshwar made a power point presentation on various activities of the Board on the occasion. MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy, MLC Ramulu Naik, Ranga Reddy District Collector Sridhar and senior officials of HMWSSB and GHMC attended the meeting. (INN)
