Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali on Tuesday inspected the arrangements being made for the Ramzan and Bonalu festivals in the city.
The Deputy CM was accompanied with Excise Minister T Padma Rao, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and other senior officials. Speaking on the occasion, he said that earlier District-In-Charge minister or Minority Welfare minister used to organize a review meeting with the concerned officials on arrangements. However, this time, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao himself reviewed the arrangements and directed the ministers to inspect each of the places of big congregation within 24 hours of conduct of the said meeting. He said that the Chief Minister has sought a report on the arrangements so as to sanction the required funds.
The team inspected Mecca Masjid, Lal Darwaza Temple, Akkanna Madanna Temple, Idgah Mir Alam, Golkonda Bonalu Temple, Seven Tombs Idgah and Langar Houz Idgah.
Mahmood Ali promised that temporary toilets would be provided near Mecca Masjid and permanent RCC toilets will be constructed later on suiting the architecture of Mecca Masjid. He directed the officials to make the entire structure rain proof before Ramzan festival. He also sanctioned a permanent welcome arch.
Minister Padma Reddy said that each district has been sanctioned Rs. 50 lakhs for Ramzan works. He said that the TRS Government has announced Bathukamma and Bonalu as State Festivals so as to enable the Endowments departments to make arrangements for celebrations every year. The minister has promised all the works pertaining to Ramzan and Bonalu festivals will be completed before beginning of fasting days and before festival respectively.
City MLAs Syed Ahmed Pasha Qaudri, Kausar Mohiuddin and GHMC Corporators were also present during the inspection. (INN)
