Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah has appealed to the doctors to play a major role in improving the health services in new State of Telangana.
Speaking to media persons after inaugurating Vijaya Poly Clinic at Malkajgiri here on Wednesday, Rajaiah, who also holds the portfolio of Medical & Health, recalled the role played by doctors during the Telangana movement. He said the doctors should play a similar and active role in extending the services to people of Telangana, especially those living in rural areas. He admitted that several villages and hamlets in the State lack basic medical facilities and doctors should volunteer to work in those areas to serve the people.
Accusing the previous governments led by Seemandhra leaders of ignoring the healthcare in Telangana, Rajaiah said steps were being taken to revive the healthcare sector from grassroots levels. He asked doctors to be punctual in their duties in government hospitals. He warned of stern action against those neglecting their responsibilities. He said that the Upper Primary Health Centres in the State would be developed on par with corporate hospitals to benefit the poor. Further, he said that the Kaloji Health University would be provided sufficient funds to start a Research & Development wing.
The Deputy CM assured that doctors of resolving their issues. “You take care about people’s health and the government will take care of all your problems,” he said. (INN)
