Dusty Conditions to Prevail

Abu Dhabi, August 03: The dusty weather conditions will prevail moderately today and visibility levels are expected to improve, particularly in the Western Region, where it had dropped to 200-300 metres on Sunday, the National Centre of Meteorology and
Seismology said.

Met officials urged motorists to drive slow and fishermen not to venture out to sea. Asthma patients and children, too, were asked to remain indoors.

On Sunday, the visibility levels in the capital and other parts of the country as Al Ain and Dubai fluctuated between 1,000 and 3,000 metres.

The dust kicked up by the sandstorm, which hit the western region in the emirate of Abu Dhabi on Thursday night and some other parts of the country, will remain for a few days.

It travelled from east of Iraq and Kuwait to the UAE, the met
officials said.

Most of the residents in Abu Dhabi remained indoors as the dust engulfed the city throughout Sunday, but it brought the mercury down by a few degrees. Though, the seas will remain
normal to moderate with waves around 1-2 feet high onshore and 2-3 feet offshore today.

The maximum temperature in the country today will be 40-44 degrees Celsius and minimum 29-32, while maximum humidity level in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah will be 65-70 per cent and minimum 15-25 per cent.
