Dubai prince sends Thalassemic youths to Italy

Dubai, October 09: A group of youth diagnosed with Thalassemia at a Dubai hospital has been sent to Italy for medical treatment by Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum, crown Prince of Dubai.

As per the directives of the crown prince, all facilities will be provided to this group to achieve therapeutic goals.

Sheikh Hamdan views it to be a national duty, as patients have the right to be taken care of, especially when experts and doctors find that such remedial trips are a therapeutic haven for them, because their sickness prevents them from living a normal life.

The group includes 24 people, headed by Khawla Belhoul, director of the Thalassemia Center at Al Wasl Hospital, and comprises 18 patients of different nationalities of both genders with Thalassemia and diabetes.

The group will stay there for a full week away from the traditional treatment and out of the usual atmosphere within the camp that will be held specifically for people with diabetes and Thalassemia, a blood disorder.
