Dubai: A hospitable and a generous gesture by the Dubai Police towards a British woman had won her heart after the Dubai police turned at her door to return the woman’s expensive Rolex watch that she assumed she lost in Dubai.
Colonel Rashid bin Safwan, director of the police’s lost and found department speaking of the incident said the British woman had forgotten her Dh100,000 watch in her hotel room when she visited Dubai. The watch was later found by the workers while cleaning the room which was handed over to Police.
The Dubai Police then informed the visitor of her belonging on the call. “She was happy that the watch was found and said she would collect it when she came to Dubai next. When she did not turn up, we considered shipping it to her. However, we decided against it as we did not want it to get lost.”
When the visitor did not turn up for nine months to recover her watch despite constant follow-ups by the Dubai Police, they decided to personally deliver it to her when the Police were invited for a conference in London.
The visitor could not thank the Police enough for their thoughtful gesture when Brigadier-General Saeed Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Malik, Rashidiya police station director handed over the precious watch.
