Dubai, June 20: A driver was on trial in the Court of First Instance on the charge of raping a woman in their workplace. The 43-year-old Pakistani man faced charges of rape and assault.
According to the arraignment sheet of the Public Prosecution, the defendant used force to have sex with an Indian manager at their workplace in Jebel Ali after all the staff had left. The incident happened in March, according to court records.
The woman, a 40-year-old Indian manager, told the prosecutor that she was about to leave the office around 4.30pm when the defendant entered. He looked sad and told her it was his last day at work. He then got close to her after closing the door. He said he wanted to kiss her and she moved back.
When she tried to take her mobile phone to call her husband the accused hit her and the phone fell down. When she screamed he put a piece of her dress in her mouth to shut her up.
He used her clothes to tie her hands up. She told him that her husband would call her and would be worried if she was late. The accused told her to say that she forgot her phone at the office.
He closed the curtains and took the woman to another office where he raped her on a desk after undressing her.
On their way out later, she asked him for a glass of water before she ran away. She called her husband and they filed a complaint at the Jebel Ali Police Station.
The defendant claimed during the investigation that he had a relation with the woman and on that day they had sex with her own consent.
According to the report of the General Department of Criminal Evidence, DNA of semen traces lifted from the woman matched with the defendant’s.
