DU plans common entrance test for journalism

New Delhi, April 12: The University of Delhi (DU) has planned to conduct a common entrance test for the highly sought after B.A. (Hons.) Journalism course for the convenience of aspirants.

The five colleges that currently offer the course in Journalism at DU are Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Kamala Nehru College, Lady Sri Ram College, Kalindi College and Maharaja Agrasen College. All these colleges are expected to be a part of the test that is scheduled to be conducted on June 19.

The discussions to finalize the modalities of admission to the course are still being held. The application procedure for the course will be completely conducted online.

In its first year, the common entrance test for the Journalism course will be coordinated by Maharaja Agrasen College. Principal of Maharaja Agrasen College said that earlier, students had to travel from one college to another to apply for the B.A. (Hons.) Journalism course.

“Several times, the dates for the entrance tests for Journalism at different colleges had clashed and students had to give up appearing for some. Having a common admission test for this course will help in solving this problem,” he said.

He further added that the date for the entrance test has already been conveyed to the university and the online application procedure for the test will be on the lines of the BBE, BBS and BFIA admissions.

Nearly 4000 applications for the test are expected to be received this time. There will be a separate online portal for the application to the test that would include online fee submission and grievance redressal. The portal will also be linked to the DU website as well as websites of all individual colleges.
