New Delhi: While Anudeep Durishetty from Hyderabad topped; Anu Kumari, a science graduate in Physics from Delhi University (DU) secured the second rank in the prestigious Civil Services Exam 2017, whose result was declared on Friday.
“I used to study 10-12 hours a day. This is like a dream come true. This feeling has still not sunk in. My first preference will be IAS as I want to stay in my country & serve the people here,” says Anu Kumari.
Meanwhile, 41 students from Jamia Millia Islamia’s Residential Coaching Academy cleared the examination; that includes Fazlur Habeeb, Benson Samuel Nina attaining rank 36 and 90 respectively. Of them, 25 were residents of the academy and 16 were day scholars.

Jamia’s vice-chancellor Talat Ahmad congratulated all the students, saying “It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction for the University and the Coaching Academy.”
The top 25 candidates comprised 17 men and eight women. The UPSC exam was held in June 2017 to recruit aspirants for as many as 980 posts in Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service, Central Services (Group A and Group B) and various other government departments.
