District Collector Natarajan Gulzar has advised the people applying for houses, to meet the officials directly, and not to get deceived by agents and middlemen.
He participated in ‘Mee kosam’ programme held in his office and received applications from the people on Monday. When some women brought to his notice that some middlemen have told them that their names were there in the list, the Collector asked them when did they apply for houses and how much amount they paid. The women replied that they did not pay even a single rupee.
The Collector told them that people who have already paid Rs 5,000 and Rs.6,000 during the last five and six years were waiting for the houses. He said that they would allot the houses to them only after allotment to those who had paid money earlier. Stating that there was no use in frequently making rounds to the collector office, he said that they would inform the applicants about allotment of houses to eligible candidates.
The Collector issued orders to the concerned to settle the problems brought to his notice by the people at the programme. (NSS)
