DSGMC chief assault: US envoy assured strict action, says Harsimrat

New Delhi : Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Monday said that the US Ambassador has assured strict action against those involved in the attack of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK in California.

After meeting the US Ambassador in Delhi, Harsimrat told ANI, “We met the US Ambassador today. He has assured that strict action will be taken and all help will be extended. He said that the law will take its course and nobody will get scot-free.”

On Sunday, Harsimrat alleged that the men who attacked Manjit Singh GK in California have links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. She also alleged that the attackers enjoy the support of senior Congress leader Jagdish Tytler who is an accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riot case.
Harsimrat had told ANI, “Heads of ‘Sikhs for Justice’ who are direct beneficiaries of ISI and work on their orders and are supported by those who are in direct touch with the likes of Jagdish Tytler, and Jasbeer Singh Lobana and his son Gagandeep Singh Lobana, were seen attacking him (Manjit Singh GK). Jasbeer Singh Lobana is the same person who has spent three months in jail for trying to intimidate an eyewitness against Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 massacre.”

“These people are attacking that person (Manjit Singh GK) of Sikh community, who has been fighting for years to get justice, to put Jagdish Tytler behind bars and to ensure that people get to know the reality of the Gandhi family. This attack clarifies that the nexus between the Congress party, the Sikhs for Justice and the ISI,” she had added.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader had also accused Congress president Rahul Gandhi of having links with the miscreants who attacked the Sikh leader on Saturday.
“Rahul Gandhi said in the UK that the Congress had no role in 1984 anti-Sikh riots and within a few hours our president Manjeet Singh GK was attacked. You will find connections between the attackers and Rahul Gandhi,” she said.

Harsimrat had also demanded adequate security for the DSGMC chief and said that she would discuss the matter with the US Ambassador.

Manjit Singh GK was attacked by a group of unknown men at the Yuba City Gurdwara in California on Saturday. The attackers allegedly pushed Singh to the ground, causing his turban to fall off and blackened his face. Three people have been arrested in connection with the matter.

Recalling the incident, Manjit Singh had informed that a group of over 20 people had attacked him. This is the second such attack on Manjit Singh this week. On Monday, the DSGMC chief and his family were allegedly attacked by Khalistan sympathisers at a TV studio in New York, following which he appealed to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for help and demanded action.
