Hyderabad, September 08: The State Government may cancel the apprenticeship system for the DCS 2008 qualified teachers from the next recruitment. The government has invited the teachers’ association to discuss the issue in view of the latter’s threat to go on indefinite strike.
Earlier on Wednesday, the STU president Kathi Narasimha Reddy went on an indefinite demanding scrapping of the controversial apprenticeship system. However, he ended the strike following an assurance from the School Education Minister K Parthasarathy that the issue would be resolved. Later, the STU leader along with other office-bearers had an interaction over the issue at the minister’s chambers in Secretariat.
The minister assured them that he would inform the Chief Minister N Kirankumar Reddy about their appeal for scrapping the apprenticeship and payment of regular scales to the teachers from next recruitment of DSC 2008. Meanwhile, Implementation of regular scales or increase in honorary pay to the apprentice teachers will be under study, according to the STU leader Kathi.
Another round of discussions will be held between the STU leaders and the government led by the minister, Special Chief Secretary T Sambasiva Rao and Director of Schools N Sivasankar.
