Hyderabad, October 09: Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas today flagged off vehicles carrying relief material meant for distribution in flood-affected areas of Mahabubnagar district. As many as 26 DCM vans carrying flood relief material were arranged under the leadership of Jubilee Hills MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy.
According to PCC general secretary G Niranjan, late PJR’s son and MLA Vishnuvardhan Reddy along with his followers collected relief material from the people living in various divisions of Jubilee Hills Assembly segment. There was huge response from the public to help the victims who have lost everything in the floods. All the 26 vehicles containing rice bags, household utencils, bed sheets, clothes etc. which were flagged off at Gandhi Bhavan will straight away go to the flood-affected areas of Mahabubnagar district to help the victims.
Meanwhile at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, State Youth Congress president PJ Sudhakar Babu informed that four Youth Congress teams would leave for Mahabubnagar, Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts to distribute relief material among flood-affected victims on October 11 and 12. Following a call given by AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, the State youth Congress would open counters in 19 districts in the State which were not affected with floods, to collect rice, toor dal and other relief material till October 10.
Sudhakar further said that about 2000 bags, each containing five kg rice, one kg toor dal, one kg edible oil, one bed sheet, a shirt and a saree would be distributed among the victims of major affected areas.
Youth Congress workers would also participate in `Shramadanam’ in the affected areas. Prior to visiting the affected areas, the youth Congress’ districts and mandal presidents would attend the state youth Congress executive meeting to be held at Gandhi Bhavan on October 11.
