Dry, hot day in Delhi; mercury reaches 38.5 degrees Celsius

New Delhi:It was a very dry and hot day in Delhi on Sunday with maximum temperature settling at over 38 degrees Celsius, two notches above the normal for this season.

“The maximum temperature was recorded at 38.5 degrees Celsius at the Palam observatory. The minimum temperature was posted at 23.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees above the

normal,” a MeT Department official said.

The Safdarjung observatory recorded maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius and minimum of 25.2 degrees Celsius, he said.

The humidity level oscillated between 27 per cent and 46 per cent. The weatherman has predicted partly cloudy sky with haze for Monday morning.

Maximum and minimum temperatures have been forecast to hover around 37 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively, the official said.
