Hyderabad, January 17: A 35-year-old person stabbed his inebriated younger brother to death at Chandanagar unable to bear the latter’s harassment.
Though the killing took place two days back, it came to light on Sunday, after the accused told about the incident to a contractor who alerted police.
The killing took place in Papi Reddy Colony in Chandanagar.
The brothers, M Vinod Kumar (35) and Pramod Kumar (30) are natives of Sholapur and had migrated to the city few years back. They are residing in a rented place.
They used to prepare flexi-boards and hoardings on order.
Chandanagar police said Pramod Kumar got addicted to alcohol and used to come home regularly in an inebriated condition.
In drunken state, he used to pick up quarrels with his elder brother.
Apart from this, Pramod Kumar used to go to his native place frequently and harass his mother and other family members. He used to beat up his mother.
Police said Pramod Kumar came to home in a drunken condition on Friday night and started abusing Vinod Kumar.
Though Vinod Kumar maintained restraint and asked his younger brother to go to bed, the latter did not heed and started beating the former.
In a fit of rage, Vinod Kumar picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Pramod, killing him instantly. After regaining his conscience, Vinod Kumar left his home and roamed in the city for a day.
On Sunday, Vinod Kumar went to a contractor, Devender Rao’s house at Saidabad and told him about the murder.
On information, Chandanagar police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy. Vinod Kumar was taken into custody for interrogation.
Chandanagar police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder).
