Mumbai, March 03: In yet another drunk driving case, an 18-year-old youth was today knocked down by a car being driven by the employee of a private insurance company under the influence of alcohol at suburban Juhu today, police said.
The police has identified the deceased as Panda Paswan while the accused fled from the scene after the accident, abandoning the vehicle but the documents, including insurance papers, available in the car led police to trace him.
The accused identified as Niranjan Shetty (36), employee with a private insurance company, was arrested from his Mira Road residence, police said adding that he was driving home after attending a party and was under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place, Senior Inspector Deepak Kathkade said.
