Drunken driving: 10 people sent to jail

As many as 10 people were sent to jail for driving their vehicles in inebriated conditions.

The Third Metropolitan Magistrate B Chengalaraya Nayudu convicted 10 people, six persons for a period of three days and four persons for a period of one day imprisonments each, for drunken driving. The Enforcement against Drunk Driving was carried out over the last weekend 11th October. A total of 87 cases were booked against Drunk Drivers. They involved 56 two-wheelers, two 3-wheelers and 29 four-wheelers.

The respondents were produced before the Third Metropolitan Magistrate Court and fine of Rs 2,600 was imposed.

From 1st January, 2013 to 11th October, 2013 total 10,180 cases have been registered and total imprisonments are 880 as on date. (INN)
