Hyderabad, October 07: A person from the city, who earlier worked with American security agencies and claims to be a retired police officer, was nabbed on Tuesday for possessing 28 grams of narcotics. The accused claimed that he was getting small supplies of narcotic drugs from America through his friends.
55-year-old Waheed Khan, was nabbed from his residence at Mehdi Colony in Langer Houz along with narcotics.
“He is claiming that he joined the American Police Force after he left for the US in 1987 and retired as a parole officer in 2003. His claims are to be verified with the American Embassy,” South Zone Task Force inspector Sudhakar said. Waheed Khan completed his graduation from the Osmania University and married an Indian woman settled in America in 1987, the police informed. During his stay in the US, he got addicted to drugs.
“Even after coming back to the city, he procured narcotics through his friends in the US. He used to get drugs in small quantities, which might not have come into notice of the airport authorities,” Sudhakar said.
Khan was also involved in a rape case in 2006. The police has sent the narcotics to the AP Forensic Sciences Laboratory to ascertain what kind of drug.
