Mohd Sayed Hussain, 56, a taxi driver from Mumbai died in a road accident when a red Audi Q3 was being driven by Jahnavi Gadkar, 35-year-old Mumbai lawyer crashed head-on into their taxi late on Monday night.
Jahnavi’s celebration happens to be someone’s mourning. During interrogation, she revealed that she drank whisky to celebrate a new project and her blood samples allegedly showed three times the level of alcohol permitted while driving.
Hussain’s daughter Nilofer Saiyyed who works as a therapist in the UK said he had not been in a single accident in his 30 years driving career and who thought that he would die in a road accident.
Nilofer’s husband Shafi Sayed, who also lives in the UK said, “We heard that she (Jahanvi) was happy to pay off and get rid of this scenario. She apparently said take the money and let me go. It does not make sense.”
Nilofer described Hussain to be a very influential person. He had worked hard all his life so that his only daughter gets proper education.
“Just because he was a cab driver it does not mean that he has no existence. It is nonsense, what were the police doing?” said Nilofer and will “ensure justice father for her father”.
Drinking and driving is irresponsible.
“Irresponsible is small word to describe what has happened. How can you do this? This happens because people have an attitude that is India and anything can be done. This is the attitude people have in India. That is the main reason why people think that drinking and driving is okay. Because they think, at the end of the day, if they have money they can get away with it. People need to change their attitude,” she said.
“She is a lawyer herself. She knows what she is doing. She knows the law. She thinks whatever she does, she can bend the rules. She thinks she go around the corners and get away with what she has done. It is shameful.”
She has not just ruined her life but has taken away our souls.
