Drop in ratio of girls in Hyderabad

The ratio of girls to boys has fallen to unprecedented low in Hyderabad and other places of the state. The basic reason behind this is the sex determination tests which lead to female foeticide.

Despite strong laws to curb and pre-natal gender tests there is proliferation of test centres where pre-natal gender tests are conducted.

In Hyderabad child sex ratio (CSR) has fall from 943 girls per 1000 boys to 938 girls per thousand boys during the last decade. The CSR was 961 girls per 1000 boys in 2001 but now it has dropped to 943 girls per 1000 boys in Andhra Pradesh.
