Drop case against Mopidevi or face stir: Krishnaiah

The AP Backward Classes Welfare Association State president R. Krishnaiah has demanded that the CBI withdraw case against former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana with regard to VANPIC scam. He also threatened to launch agitation against the Congress party if the CBI failed to withdraw the cases against Venkataramana.

Speaking at a meeting organized by the BC Sanghala Samakhya here on Sunday, Krishnaiah said that over 60 members, including Mopidevi, late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s cabinet and officials had signed in the file allotting 18,000 acres to VANPIC. Of all the people, the CBI arrested only Mopidevi just because he belongs to fishermen’s community and ignored other members in the case. It was the fine example that the Cngress party was adopting anti-BC policy and hurt self-respect of BCs.

Appealing to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to ensure release of Mopidevi from jail within 15 days, Krishnaiah said that they would organize a ‘Mahadharna’ against the Congress government for its discrimination towards BC community, on June 18 at Indira Park. (NSS)
