Aurangabad: On Saturday, a 3-day ijtema began in Aurangabad where lakhs of Muslims gathered which led to heavy deployment of Police and state reserve force by the state administrative machinery.
Huge hoardings were put up by Shiv Sena, a right wing organisation known for its anti-Muslim stand, at various places. The hoardings appealed to “Muslims who are attending the Ijtema to pray for the party”.
Also, the Shiv Sena lifted the toll tax for the vehicles arriving to attend Aurangabad ijtema.
The ijtema began on Saturday after Fajr namaz, and a series of lectures by different Muslim clerics followed.
The organisers of the ijtema event told that the main aim was to promote universal brotherhood and establish peace and take the country forward on the path of development.
The committee organizing the event had assigned the responsibilities to various sub-committees so that people who visit ijtema do not face any kind of problems.
Lakhs of Muslims arriving at the ijtema site made heavy deployment of Police. According to the local police sources, around 5000 policemen have been deployed from Aurangabad and other districts, which also include three officers of the rank of commissioner and assistant commissioner, 25 police inspectors and 70 sub-inspectors. Four companies of the State reserve Police Force (SRPF), 1,000 traffic police and eight squads of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) have also been called for the Ijtema.
