Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao today said that the prestigious “Driver cum Owner” scheme being implemented in the twin cities will be expanded to other municipalities in the state. During question hour KTR said that the government plans to expand the scheme as it proved handy in the city. This scheme is successfully implemented providing employment to 408 persons who run the cabs. Of them the GHMC itself hired 135 cabs he said adding that the government will consider to an appeal to increase existing rent Rs 25000 a month to some extent. We are running 2000 Swatch Auto Tippers in the city and the scheme as part of swatch Hyderabad is giving better results. (NSS)
