New Delhi: It is quite alarming to see children and teenagers get addicted to tobacco. In a move to curb the addiction, the Delhi Police and the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) have started a joint campaign to make all educational institutions tobacco free.
As per PTI, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Jatin Narwal informed that tobacco sellers had been removed from around schools during summer vacations. However, once they reopen, local residents will have to assist them in ensuring that tobacco products are not sold nears schools, he said.
He also stated that strict legal action will be taken if anyone is found guilty of selling these products near schools.
Krishna Kumar, the director of education, NDMC, said that all the educational institutions had been asked to put up signboards cautioning against the usage and sale of tobacco products.
