Drinking Water, Irrigation priority sectors: Navin Mittal

Municipal Administration & Urban Development Secretary Navin Mittal today informed the visiting Civil Service Officers of Bangladesh that drinking water and irrigation sectors are the two topmost priority sectors for the State of Telangana.

 

The officers from various government ministries of Bangladesh met the Secretary at the Secretariat today to have an understanding of the functioning of the government in the State.   Mittal briefed them about the role of the various organisations such as HMDA, DTCP, DMA , Public Health under the Municipal Administration department.

Interacting with the officers later, Mittal observed that a fast growing economy will help generate more employment opportunities to the youth.  He also said that Telangana, being a newly carved out State is young and relying more on Information Technology and e-governance, which was helping the government in solving the problems of the people. The T-Hub is one such initiative launched by the State which has attracted a lot of start-ups to set up shop, he said.

Mittal also said the eco system of Hyderabad with lot of premier educational institutions, excellent infrastructure and geo strategic location of the city has attracted lot of  investments which helped the city achieve tremendous growth in the recent decades, he said. The challenge of  human and financial resources crunch is a constraint and the government is striving hard by accelerating economic growth which has resulted in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of the State reach  around 100 billion dollars. Mittal also explained about the cadre allocation of Indian Administrative Service officers to the visiting delegation.

The Director of the Centre for Public Policy, Governance and Rural Development, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) Dr D Rama Rao was also present. (NSS)
