Last week, a news flashed that around one and a half month back when our beloved former president of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was about to board the Air India Plane at John F. Kennedy airport at New York, on 29th September his dress was searched twice as a security measure. Such a search was made when he was not outside his dress but inside it. Such a dress search is made for common persons like me and I have become habituated to such dress search.
I myself seek such a dress search by all means because during such searches my body experiences a thrilling and pleasant feeling. However, it is a different experience. I will throw light on it later. At the moment, I would like to say something about the dress search of our former President of india. I know that our former president APJ Abdul Kalam leads his practical life simpler than any common man. However,the security personnel of American should have at least thought that he had been the head of the largest democratic country of the world.
This lapse could be forgiven because security check is the routine business of the officials but after passing through the routine security check,these officials got the door of the aeroplane opened and wished the former president of the Republic of India to hand over his shoes and jackets to them. As the former ruler of a democratic country he fulfilled their wish. It is learnt that the security officials had suspected that there might have been some explosive material concealed in his shoes and jacket. Apparently, the Indian diplomats and the Govt. of India must have protested and objected to this kind of treatment. After complete one and a half month lapse, Govt. of America not only regretted but it also apologised and said that no such incident will take place with the former President of India in future.
On the other hand, when press reporters wanted the reaction of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam himself, he smiled and evaded it by saying that such things shouldn’t be given importance, they should be forgotten. Evidently, Dr. Abdul Kalam is a person of high magnanimity. It is accepted that he was the President of the Republice of India but his greatness is that he always considered himself like a “common man”. The security officials might say that they have searched a former President and not the President in power, so what is there to worry about . we have many such examples wherein America made the house search of a certain country in such a way that in front of the entire world, it destroyed that country completely and humiliated the head of the country in power and annihilated him also. You have the example of President of Iraq before you where America invaded saying that Iraq has such weapons which could pose a threat to world peace. Rockets were fired and it was attacked with the modern weapons. When this country was destroyed completely, America and its allies couldn’t get any nuclear weapons. After sometime, the head of state of that country was arrested.
You might have watched on the T.V. how his dress was searched. The eyes of Iraq’s President were cleaved. His mouth was opened many a time as if Saddam Hussain had concealed nuclear weapons in his stomach. This was a strange precedent of dress search of a president in power of a country which would be remembered in the history forever. Despite this kind of heinous dress search, America found nuclear weapons neither in Iraq nor in the clothes, mouth and stomach of Saddam Hussain. America, instead of apologizing the entire world, hanged Saddam Hussain. The Army of Chenges and Hulagoo might not have ruined Baghdad to such an extent as America and its allies did. Even then, the world, in turn, didn’t ask America and its allies that why did it attack Iraq and why did they search the dress of Saddam Hussain. Another latest incident of dress search of America is that of Libya where the dress search of Libya and the head of Libya Col. Muammar Ghadafi was made in such a way that at last Col. Muammar Ghadafi had to hide himself in a big water pipe. He was removed from there and made to run and ultimately he was brutally assassinated publicey in instalments. Can any other country present an example an of such a heinous dress search?.
This honour is bestowed upon America that it didn’t maintain any difference between destruction, house check and dress search. And then, America also has this distinction that it made this destruction an effective means of luxury and entertainment. By the way I recollected that during the time when America had started its military operations , every military operation used to be telecast directly on to the T.V. The T.V. channels of the entire world used to be in the forefronts in this activity.
The destruction used to be shown on the T.V. in such a way as if it is grand entertainment programme. I remember, when the attacks of America and its allies on Iraq came to an end and Iraq was completely destroyed, then the telecast of heinous attacks was also stopped. A young son of one of my friends told me sadly.”uncle! so long as the heinous attacks used to be shown on the T.V.,we used to enjoy very much. There used to be an atmosphere of thrilling and pleasure the days from which these attacks were stopped, our personal life has become desolate and deserted. For a moment, think of it.
On this matter how can I console this innocent young man, and also America and its allies. In fact, America has altogether changed the nature of old social and cultural values of the countries. Wisdom now seems to be like madness and madness like wisdom. I have also seen for the first time in the recent days that because of America, an opportunity has been created to celebrate with happiness on the death of some human beings. Be it the death of Saddam Hussain or that of Muammar Ghadafi. In this matter I don’t want to say any more because not only some occasions of Luxury and entertainment have occurred and there ia an apprehension that in future, many more occasions may come.
I have travelled many countries and I have passed through the stages of security check because it is my favourite pastime. Many a time, my shoes also got removed and handed them over to the security officials because in doing so, my shoes get cleaned. They look cleaner and shining than what they were before.
When the security personnel of America have checked the shoes of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, it is a good thing from one aspect. However ,I may mention that if American security officials check my dress hundreds of times, I won’t have any objection. But when it is the matter of the former President of India, it should be borne in mind that India is the largest democracy in the world and its past President is entitled to respect and dignity. It is the greatness of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam that he forgot this incident.
