Dreamliner debuts at Hyderabad airshow

US aircraft major Boeing today presented its much-delayed Dreamliner at the Hyderabad air show.
The Dreamliner is the first all-new airplane of the 21st century and with its extensive use of game-changing
technologies, it is certain to revolutionise not only passenger experience but also airline operations,” Boeing
commercial airplanes senior vice-president for sales (Asia-Pacific and India) Dinesh Keskar said in a statement.

The aircraft is made from composite materials and is the first airplane to provide long distance capabilities with
mid-size capacity.

Keskar said this capability will allow airlines like Air India to profitably operate non-stop routes to many more
distant cities. Air India had ordered 27 Dreamliners in 2007, but Boeing failed to stick to the delivery schedule. As per the original delivery schedule, Boeing was to start delivery from September 2008.

However, it failed to meet the timeline due to issues with its vendors and industrial dispute with workers. The
company has now rescheduled the delivery towards the end of the year.
