Dr. Vinay Sheela has a passion for knowledge; she has dedicated every moment of her life for promotion of education. She served as head mistress of Safdaria Girls High School for 37 years. After retirement she continued her voluntary services for the same school. Her husband Mohan Kumar also served the same school for 40 years. Their affection towards the students of the school could be presumed from the fact that the students called her ‘Amma’ instead of teacher.
Dr. Vinay Sheela has done masters in English, Psychology, Education, besides doing M.Phil and PhD. Her passion towards her goal of educating young girls could be concluded from the fact that she took leave for just 10 days during her entire service, that too on medical grounds.
Despite being a non-Muslim she is often seen guiding the girls in religious affairs. The other day when Siasat correspondent called on her, she was preparing the students for Milad-un-nabi (pbuh) day to be celebrated in the school. Department of education Andhra Pradesh has awarded her with Best Teacher Award for the year 2001 in recognition of her services.
