Former Minister Dr P Shanker Rao has appeared before the CID on Friday in connection with the Green Fields land dispute. Speaking on this occasion, the Minister said that he was appearing before the CID following the Court direction.
It may be recalled that Shanker Rao was facing serious allegations in connection with the Green Fields Land issue. Shanker Rao had suffered from serious health problems when the Malkajgiri police had forcibly detained him in this case few months ago. Shanker Rao also underwent treatment at Care Hospital for several weeks.
After discharge from the Hospital, Shanker Rao maintained restraint for some time, but during the Assembly budget session, he submitted a memorandum to the Speaker asking him to order CBI probe against him in connection with the Green Fields land dispute. But several Congress senior leaders convinced him on this issue and made him silent and also they succeeded in making him to meet the Chief Minister on the same day. (NSS)
