The former professor and a writer, Ram Punyani speaks about the reality behind the ideology of right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh abbreviated as RSS. According to him, Brahmanism and Hinduism are two different approaches, but efforts are being made to make them synonymous. Hinduism is, in fact, a different perspective and does not resemble Brahmanism.
Brahmanism is a doctrine that believes in chanting. As per this ideology, the children are born with superiority according to their caste, race and character. RSS being functioning on these ideas gave birth to term ‘Hindutva’ and politics that would be surrounded by discrimination. The terms such as ‘Hindutva’ and ‘Hindu Nation’ have been coined to oppress the marginalised communities, says Punyani.
The former professor says, “In 1936, a woman named Laxmibai Kelkar wanted to join the saffron outfit, however, she was not allowed to join and suggested to make another affiliate whose name would be ‘Rashtriya Sevika Samiti’ showcasing RSS’ prejudice towards women.”
