Dr. Mohammed Ali Rafath, IAS took over as member of APPSC yesterday. Mr. C.R. Biswal administered oath of office to Dr. Rafath. Mr. Mohammed Noman, Prof. Satya, Mr. Surya Narayana and Ms. Jadagambika Malik, members of APPSC were present on this occasion. A large number of employees of AP Dairy Development Federation were also present on this occasion to greet Dr. Rafath. APPSC has now 7 members on its rolls. The tenure of office of Dr. Rafath will be five years. A member of APPSC enjoys the protocol of the status of a High Court Judge.
After the swearing-in ceremony, while talking to newsmen, Dr. Rafath told that his first priority will be to make the image APPSC clean. He would act to restore public confidence on the commission. All the appointments would be made on the basis of merit. He was appointed member of the commission after he relinquished Indian Civil Service.
