The Telangana State Bharatiya Janata Party today welcomed the Central Government’s decision of issuing an ordinance postponing the implementation of the Supreme Court’s decision on NEET from this academic year.
In a press release here on Friday, State BJP president Dr K Laxman stated, “The ordinance gave a lot of relief to scores of students and parents in the State of Telangana who have been feeling extremely anxious and worried about the decision of the Supreme Court, which insisted on implementation of NEET from this academic year.
“We thank the Central government, on behalf of the parents and students, who have been preparing for EAMCET. For students of Telangana, EAMCET is an important examination for which they have been preparing for the last two years. The sudden decision of the Supreme Court dampened their spirits as they have to prepare for a new examination with a different syllabus afresh.
“Under the circumstances, the Union Government has rightly understood the anxiety, aspirations and emotions of students by issuing the ordinance. Different State Governments represented to the Union Government seeking its intervention with respect to postponing implementation of Supreme Court’s decision. BJP feels that any decision which aims at reforming the systems should take all the stake-holders into cognizance and adequately prepare them. In the present case, the students have not been given enough time and the examination was perceived to be advantageous to a set of students, who pursued education in a particular mode. BJP appeals to all stake-holders, including the State Government, to bring about necessary changes in course curriculum to ensure that Telangana students would compete at par with students of other States at national level.
