Dr. Iqbal is held high as thinker & philosopher

Hyderabad, July 06: Dr. Sir Mohammed Iqbal was confident that Muslim Ummah has a glorious future. He was also aware of the fact that of all the religions in the world, only Islam can fulfill the challenges of the modern world. Iqbal occupies a high esteem as a thinker and as a philosopher.

The circumstances prevailed in Iqbal’s time and our time are not different. Prof. Mohammed Mumtaz Ali of University of Malaysia was addressing a meeting on “The relevance of Iqbal in the present day context” held under the auspices of Iqbal Academy at Gulshan-e-Khaleel, Masab Tank. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Mohammed Abdur Rahim Quraishi, President All India Majlis-e-Tameer-e-Millat. The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Quranic verses by Mr. Ziauddin Nayyar. Mr. Syed Imtiazuddin, Secretary, Iqbal Academy presented the poems of Iqbal. Continuing his speech, Prof. Mumtaz Ali paid his devotional tribute to Mr. Syed Khaleelullah Hussaini, founder of Iqbal Academy for his yeomen services.

Various personalities have seen Iqbal from different points of view. Iqbal himself, in his addresses, has viewed western thoughts with great favour. Iqbal said that if Muslims want to establish a state, there is no harm. Iqbal follows the teachings of the prophets.

Dr. Yousuf Azmi said that Iqbal was not the follower of the past but he wanted to adopt a moderate way of life in the light of Islamic thought.
Mr. Abdur Rahim Quraishi in his presidential address told that the views of the learned speaker are worth considering and worth appreciating also. He said that although Iqbal was not associated with any political party, he used to consider Islamic way of life for the welfare of humanity.
