Dozens of prisoners in jail despite completion of jail term

Victims of the alleged negligence of the government, a number of prisoners await release from jail even after they completed serving their prison term. In a written note signed by nearly 2 dozen prisoners sent to Siasat daily, the prisoners appealed managing editor Siasat Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan to brought justice to the prisoners as part of the Siasat’s struggle against injustices.

The prisoners pleaded to include them in the efforts continued for Abdul Qadeer’s release and raise voice in their favour. They stated ‘we have completed jail term and repented for our crimes. Moreover the law has provision to release the prisoner after completion of 7 years on the basis of his good conduct.’

A prisoner Mohammed Shareef claimed that section 498(A) is being misused and the law does not allow any kind of help to men. So the prisoner appealed the chief minster to pay attention towards the distress of prisoners booked under 498(A).

The prisoners requested managing editor Siasat Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan to urge the government to take measures for their release.
