On Monday at Vajpayee Nagar, Neredmet, a woman committed suicide unable to bear the harassment for additional dowry. The victim is identified as C. Meena, 23, wife of Satish, was working at a private firm.
According to Neredmet police, the couple got married in 2010, but had no children. The police further said that the harassment began right after the marriage by Satish and his mother Jayamma.
Meena doused herself in kerosene and set herself in flames. She sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Meena’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital and was later handed over to the victim’s family.
Police registered a case of dowry death. The accused are absconding.
