A 28-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly due to harassment by her husband and in-laws for more dowry.
The deceased, V. Krishna Veni, resorted to the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling at her residence in Pragati Nagar Colony of Chintalkunta on Saturday night. She was married to one Ram Kumar of Suryapet of Nalgonda district in April 2012. However, she was allegedly being harassed for more dowry by her husband and in-laws which consequently drove her to suicide.
The Vanasthalipuram police registered a case and began investigations.
In another case, U. Shyamala, 21, of Kotlur, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling on Saturday night. She took the extreme step allegedly due to harassment by her husband Ellesh and her in-laws. Shamirpet police began investigation after registering a case under Section 304 B. (INN)
