Harassment for additional dowry allegedly drove a 33-year-old woman to suicide.
According to Gandhi Nagar police, the victim, A. Rekha, resorted to the extreme step by setting herself ablaze. She took the extreme step at her residence in Kavadiguda on July 12 and died at the Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday night. She was allegedly being harassed for more dowry by her husband Srinivas, mother-in-law Govindamma and sister-in-law Jyothi. On July 12, she was allegedly beaten up by her husband. Unable to bear the harassment, she ended up her life.
A case under Sections 498A and 306 IPC has been registered against Srinivas and his relatives. Further investigations are on. (INN)
