Dowry-free marriage: Bihar couple sets an example, gets appreciation from Nitish Kumar

Patna: Newly married couple got appreciation from their state’s CM, Mr. Nitish Kumar after groom rejected dowry.

According to the news published in Indian Today, Prakash Kumar Shah and Puja Kumari received Nitish Kumar’s blessing at his residence in Patna.

Both groom and bride are the resident of Bhojpur District, Bihar.

Prakash rejected dowry after he was inspired by CM’s appeal made on October 4 during a Mahayajna at Ara, the district headquarters town of Bhojpur.

Kumar had appealed to the people to make the campaign to end social evils like dowry and child marriage a grand success.

On October 2, Kumar launched a state-wide campaign for abolition of social evils like child marriage and dowry and announced that a human chain would be formed in support of the campaign on January 21.

It may be mentioned that this is s the cond time when Mr. Nitish expressed happiness over incident of eradication of dowry.

Earlier,  Nitish Kumar, who greeted by hugging Harindra Kumar Singh, a former principal and a resident of Bhojpur district, expressed happiness over his (Singh’s) decision to return Rs 4 lakh dowry to the bride’s family and said that “former principal Harindra Kumar Singh’s step (to return dowry amount) would prove to be an example for the society.”
