Hyderabad, April 20: A housewife, who was allegedly set ablaze by her in-laws for additional dowry a few days back, died today while undergoing treatment. The relatives of the woman staged a protest in front of her in-laws’ house demanding action against the accused.
According to police, Divya Bai (22), was married to Durgesh of Shivaji Nagar in Shamshabad and the couple have a two-year-old son, Arun.
Police said Divya Bai’s husband and in-laws used to harass her for additional dowry.
On Saturday, Divya Bai suffered burns under suspicious conditions and was shifted to a hospital.
Divya’s kin demanded that the dowry given during the marriage, including gold and cash, should be returned to her parents and a house that the in-laws owned should be registered in the name of Arun.
