A 21-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly due to harassment for additional dowry by her in-laws.
The victim, B. Asha, resorted to the extreme step at her residence in Mether Basti in Kachiguda police limits on September 8 and died at Osmania General Hospital on Tuesday night. She was married to one Basvaraj in June 2014. However, Basvaraj and his relatives started harassing for more dowry a few months after the marriage. Police have registered a case under Sections 498A, 3&4 DP Act against her husband and in-laws.
In another case, P. Ramakrishna, 48, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling at his residence in Rajula Swamy Nagar on Tuesday night. He was a carpenter and was facing financial problems to arrange dowry for his daughter’s marriage, according to Dundigal police. (INN)
