Chennai, August 29: Unseeded Ramkumar Ramanathan of Tamil Nadu completed a fine double in the boys Under-18 category by adding the singles title to the doubles crown when he defeated Ronit Bisht of Delhi 6-4, 6-3 in the final of the Adidas MCC National Junior Tennis Championships, here Saturday.
Ramkumar, who had won the doubles title Friday, broke Bisht once in the first set and twice in the second to win in a canter.
Bisht did show some spark in the second set when he broke Ramkumar, but dropped serve immediately and the local lad, buoyed by partisan support, went on to wrap up the match.
Ramkumar partnering Arjun Khade of Maharashtra Friday night had beaten second seeded Bisht and Mohit Mayur (TN) 6-4, 7-6 (4).
Ankita Raina, the second seed from Gujarat, took the girls Under-18 title defeating Prarthana Thombre of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-1 in a one-sided final.
The girls under-14 crown went to ninth seeded Sansitha Nandakumar of Tamil Nadu who overcame second-seeded K. Bhuvana of Andhra Pradesh 6-3, 6-2.
In the all-Andhra boys Under-14 final, Abhishek Alla scored over Shaik Abdullah at 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
