As part of providing double bedroom housing facility for the poor in twin cities, Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav today laid foundation stone for construction of 162 houses at a cost of Rs 14 cr at Potti Sri Ramulu Nagar and Sri Lanka Basti in Bansilalpet area in his Sanathanagar constituency here.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the aim of the government was to provide spacious two bedroom houses to people, who languished in small houses and huts. Telangana is the only State in the country that offers free of cost the two bedroom houses for the poor, he claimed. All the eligible people will get these houses free of cost from the government and there was no need of panic or doubts about it, he said, adding that about Rs 9 lakh was being spent for each house.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao wanted to provide the double bedroom facility for the self-respect of the poor. So far, the people have been residing at narrow and congested houses with meager facilities and sharing some funds for the housing. Now they are need not pay a single rupee and can own new double bedroom houses with all facilities, he said. The houses are being planned to be completed in 12 months and hand them over to the beneficiaries.
The minister also cited that for the first time, the TRS Government has set a record and created history by constructing 400 units of double bedroom houses at IDH Colony in his constituency. “We have already began this facility at GYR Compound, Banda Maisamma Basti and will soon start double bedroom houses construction at Hamali Basti, Chacha Nehru Nagar, Ramaswamy Compound, Ambedkar Nagar and so on, he added. He also appealed to the residents not to get cheated by middlemen, who may try to dupe them or deceive in the name of providing houses. Transparent method must be followed to get their details and conducted a survey for three to four times, he said. (NSS)
