Dope crackdown continues: 3 Africans in net

Hyderabad, October 07: Continuing their crackdown on drug-peddlers, city police caught five persons on Tuesday, including a Kenyan and two Nigerians, allegedly involved in sale of narcotic substances in separate cases.

In the first case, the 40-year-old Kenyan, Stephen Kiya Tira Ilula Muereria alias Roxy was involved in making drug transactions through social networking sites like Yahoo Messenger and FaceBook and it is suspected that narcotics were being supplied to the kin of influential persons. 140 g of cocaine was recovered from Roxy and his two associates, Sarfaraz alias Pappu of Malakpet and Hyder Ali of Masab Tank.

Police suspect the drug-peddlers had connections with the Tollywood. Roxy is said to be a key supplier of narcotics in south India. He operates from Bangalore and was supplying drugs to city agents, sources said. Roxy hails from Rajaji Nagar in Bangalore. He is also suspected to have supplied narcotics to peddlers like Clement and Patrick who were arrested earlier. According to police, the racket operates through social networking sites with a code language. “The agent has to deposit 50 per cent of the actual value of the consignment with Roxy and communicate the bank account and other details through social networking sites. Once the agent receives the consignment, the remaining amount was deposited,” a police official said.

Police recovered a mobile and laptop from the accused and said they were probing into the database of the clients. Roxy reportedly told police he was getting narcotics from South Africa. Though he had been staying in Bangalore for the last one-and-a-half years, Bangalore police said they had no information about him. Meanwhile, Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths arrested two Nigerians who were allegedly selling cocaine. The Nigerians are 45-year-old Gerald Ike and 40-year-old Ike Charles Ojimba, who are residing at Madhav Puri and Bhaskar Rao Nagar localities in Sainikpuri area respectively. Though the sleuths could not find any narcotic substances with them, they recovered Rs 2.15 lakh cash from the duo.
