Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary P Muralidhar Rao today appealed to the people’s representatives in the state not to vote for UPA-II Government’s Presidential Candidate Pranab Mukherjee as he was allegedly the main obstacle in the creation of separate Telangana. Addressing the press conference here, he said his party was aware Mr Mukherjee was a senior Parliamentarian and a trouble shooter but he had done nothing for Telangana state when the UPA-I Government constituted a sub-committee headed by him in 2004 for finding a solution to the issue after aligning with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Mr Rao said the delay in taking decision on separate Telangana had resulted in political uncertanity in Andhra Pradesh since 2004 imparing development activities. He appealed to all political leaders in the state to cast their vote in the presidential election as per their conscience for securing Telangana statehood. To a question on the winning chances of Former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma in the poll as there were sharp differences within the NDA, Mr Rao retorted if the parties voted according to their choice, the tribal leader’s winning chances would be bright.
