Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy on Friday assured the migrants from North Eastern States that the government would take all measures to provide security to them.
Talking to media persons at Police Commissioner’s Office, Dinesh Reddy appealed to the students and family members from Assam not to believe the rumours. He said that violence targeting their community members was not reported anywhere in the city. Stating that the exodus of North Eastern people has come down due to the efforts of police in the State, he said that the government has taken various steps to dispel the fear from the minds of students. “The rumours are false and everyone is safe in the city. There is no threat to their lives in the state,” he said.
The DGP said that the government would deploy Armed Reserve Forces in those areas where migrants from Assam are living. He asked the migrants from North East to lodge complaint in the nearby police station if they feel insecure and targeted by any community. Stating that Hyderabad was known for communal harmony since a long time, he said that the police would take stringent action against those, who take law into their hands.
