Don’t disrupt IT, BPO activities: Nasscom

Hyderabad, March 25: The National Association of Software and Services Companies appealed to political parties not to disrupt the activities of the IT and BPO sector as part of their protests for separate Telangana State. Nasscom president Som Mittal said the industry was taken by surprise over the activities on both sides. “One State or many, it doesn’t matter for us. We do 24×7 work to cater to requirements across the globe and our activities should not be disrupted,” he said. He expressed concern that the State lost some jobs to Philippines after the agitation broke out a year ago.

The State government, however, tried to instil confidence in the industry by bringing IT and BPO sectors under essential services besides assuring that the industry would be protected. “Employment creation and protection of jobs is on the agenda of every political party. The parties should take steps to see that we do not lose out our jobs,” he said.
