Don’t politicize lakes’ works: Harish

Rubbishing aside the opposition’s criticism of corruption in the Mission Kakatiya project, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today flayed the former for their meaningless rhetoric.

Talking to mediapersons here, Harish Rao ruled out corruption in the project. Warning of dire consequences if the officials or others involved in corrupt practices, Harish made it clear that though the Government is yet to release funds for the flagship project of lakes restoration, the Opposition was indulging in mud-slinging activities for political mileage. The Opposition, he alleged, with bad intentions was creating hurdles to the smoothly going project. Instead of making false propaganda, the Opposition can offer suggestions for smooth and speedy completion of the project, he said. They can complain to the call center if anything goes wrong, the minister maintained.
Harish Rao ruled out the possibility of corruption as the government is yet to release funds for the project so far. The Minister found fault with the Opposition parties for making a hue and cry. The Government saved the project cost by Rs 500 crore by quoting less tenders, he said. The farmers shifted Rs 2 crore worth soil removed from the lakes and water bodies, he added. (NSS)
