Listening to his friend’s advice to live a lavish life proved costly for a 22-year-old domestic help from Bihar who landed in jail after allegedly robbing
his employers’ house of jewellery worth Rs one crore and huge cash when they were away.
Narayan Sahani and his friend Gopal Sahu were arrested from Madhubani district in Bihar adjoining the Indo-Nepal
border after two months of intensive search by the Delhi Police.
Platinum, diamond and gold jewellery worth 1 crore, and Rs 2.8 lakh in cash were recovered from their possession,
police said.Sahani ransacked the house of Om Parkash Aggarwal in Ashok Vihar on February 20 when the family was away for a family function in Gurgaon.
When Aggarwal came back, he found all gold & diamond jewelleries and cash about Rs 4 lakh missing from his house.
Acting on specific information, police went to Jaipur initially to arrest Sahani and Sahu who gave him the advice to rob his employer’s house to live a lavish life, but in vain.
Then they came to know that the duo had escaped to Bihar to sneak into Nepal. Police said the duo frequently sneaked into Nepal making it difficult to catch them.
“After a long and determined chase, on Sunday, a team finally succeeded in apprehending accused Gopal and at his
instance Narayan was arrested from near the Indo-Nepal border in Madhubani, Bihar,” Romil Baaniya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, North-West district, said.
Before Narayan took up his present job, Gopal prompted him to strike big and make a clean sweep of the jewellery and cash from his employer so as to lead a lavish life in Nepal, he said. PTI ETB
